Regis W. “McGaff” Metzler Sr., 81, of McCandless, died peacefully on Monday, Sept, 1, 2008. Rege was a World War II Navy Seabees veteran and a respected, avid golfer, bowler and senior softball player originally from Oakland. He owned Metzler TV, West View, along with his brother, the late John Metzler, for 50 years. Husband of 60 years of Helen (Sokolowski) Metzler, his devoted “Bride.” Loving father of Diane Sullivan (Bill), of McCandless; Rege Jr., of Richland; Denise Ryan (Don), of Hampton; Sheryn Fisher (Dan), of Economy, and the late Debbie Link (surviving spouse Jim). Much-loved Grandpap of 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Also survived by his sisters, Ann Kiefer, Marie Sciulli (Bob) and Sally Malie (Jack). In addition to John, he was preceded in death by siblings, James and Larry Metzler, Betty Fitzgerald and Joan Yeager. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the T.B. DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 806 Perry Highway, Ross. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Teresa of Avila Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
