In January 2021, Thomas Bede Devlin took the same journey that he’d lovingly prepared for so many other people over the past 70-plus years. The World War II veteran and longtime operator of Devlin Funeral Home Inc. in Ross and Cranberry was the funeral director of choice for generations of families from the North Side, the North Hills and beyond. In a business driven largely by word of mouth, Mr. Devlin took no shortcuts or chances when it came to preserving his sterling reputation — including in his appearance. From 1960 to 1970, Mr. Devlin served as a justice of the peace in Ross and he was an active member of the St. Teresa of Avila Church, where he was a member of the church council and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
