Carmela R. Haidet, 81, of Ross Township, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at Mercy Hospital after a two year bout with colon cancer. Born in 1927, in Jersey City, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Rose Rifici. She had previously been employed as secretary/receptionist for the Army-Navy Purchasing Office in New York City, the Trust Company of New Jersey in Jersey City and the Aluminum Company of America in Cleveland, Ohio. She had been a longtime member of St. Sebastian Parish in the North Hills, where she did volunteer work in the school office and library for many years. She pursued her favorite hobby as a member of the late Vicki Kahn’s art class for more than 20 years. A loving wife and mother, she is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Walter R. Haidet; and her beloved family, Dr. Keith (Dr. Kim) Haidet, of Mechanicsburg, Dr. Ellen (Paul) Mustovic, of Pine Township, and Dr. Paul (Dr. Mary Lynn Fecile) Haidet, of Houston, Texas; and grandchildren, Jared, Alexander and Jonathan Haidet and Victoria, Christina and Ruth Ann Mustovic. She is also survived by a sister, Nina (Walter) Martone, of Lakehurst, N.J.; a brother, Vincent (Anne) Rifici, of Kerrville, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the T.B. DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 806 Perry Hwy., North Hills. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Sebastian Church. Entombment in Holy Savior Cemetery, Gibsonia. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Sebastian School, 311 Seibert Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
