Service: Funeral Service Wednesday 11 AM at the funeral home

Nancy Jane Stedeford, 85, of Pittsburgh, PA passed away on August 11, 2023 after a short period of illness. Nancy was born on May 10, 1938 to Jane and William “Willie” Veccharella in Mars, PA. After graduating high school in 1956, she went on to study theater and performed at the Pittsburgh Playhouse, where she met her future husband, James “Big D” Stedeford. Nancy and James married in 1969 and soon welcomed three children; William, Todd, and Roxane (Scott). Nancy was an optimistic, caring, and giving person with a smile that would light up a room. She had a competitive spirit and loved tennis, chess, theater, and a good thriller book. She was also a total “foodie” and loved having dessert for breakfast and sharing meals with family and friends. Shortly before her death, William summarized his mom as “the most caring person I know. She always puts the needs of others in place of her own.” Those who knew Nancy would agree. Nancy was a devoted wife and mother and a loyal friend. She cherished several lifelong friendships, individuals with whom Nancy loved as members of her own family. Nancy is survived by her husband of 54 years, her three children, her son-in-law, her brother, three grandchildren, and one cat.

Friends will be received Tuesday from 6-8 PM at DEVLIN Funeral Home, 806 Perry Hwy and again on Wednesday from 9 until time of service at 11 AM. Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home.
