Katherine “Kay” L. (Belak) Mentzer, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025, at the age of 100.

Kay was born in the Hays neighborhood of Pittsburgh and later made her home in Ross Township and McCandless Township. She married Gerard “Jerry” Mentzer, and together they raised their daughter, Chris. Kay and Jerry were married for 64 years.

Kay worked as an office assistant for Marsh McLennan and later at the La Roche College library. She loved a good cup of coffee and a “glazed raised donut.” Kay enjoyed conversation, classical music, opera, singing, reading, traveling, art, sewing, animals, ice skating, and roller skating. She earned her sailing license and enjoyed sailing and canoeing with Jerry on Lake Erie and on Lake Arthur in Moraine State Park.

Kay is survived by her granddaughter, Amy Watenpool; her nephew, Brian (Karen) Chobirko; and their children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Mentzer, and her daughter, Christine “Chris” Watenpool.

At Kay’s request, there will be no visitation or service.
