Janice Markley

October 26, 1951 - November 10, 2025

Service: Friday, November 14, 2025, 10:30 am; Holy Savior Cemetery Mausoleum

Janice was born in 1951 in Greenwich, CT into a large, happy Italian family which shaped her faith and compassionate, generous spirit. She never turned a blind eye to anyone in need or going through a challenging period. She and her beloved husband Stewart, a Navy Vet himself, were especially empathetic and giving to veterans going through hard times.
Janice loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed entertaining and decorating her home, wanting everyone around her to have a great time. An annual Christmas shopping trip with her sisters and niece Cindy provided a lifetime of laughter and fond memories.
She married the love of her life, Stewart Markley in 1974. They shared a devoted and loving life together for 47 years before his passing in 2021. The joy of Janice and Stew’s life was their daughter Jennie (Markley) Modugno. Knowing home is where the heart is, Janice and Stew relocated to Pennsylvania to be close to Jennie, their devoted son-in-law Michael and their young family. Customers loved interacting with Janice at Jennie and Mike’s Bridgeside Market in Sewickley, PA. She endeared herself to all at the market with her quick smile and helping hand.
Her greatest legacy though is her beloved grandchildren Milena, Dominick and Joey. Everyone loved a sleepover at grandmas, having fun and building loving, lasting memories.
In addition to Stewart, she was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Margaret Domiziano and brother Frank Domiziano of Greenwich, CT. In addition to her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren, Janice is survived by her sister Mary Ellen (Domiziano) Patzuk and husband Adam of Trumbull, CT as well as her sister Carole (Domiziano) Boucher of Greenwich, CT and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made in Janice’s name to a local veteran organization Restore 22; – restore22.org
Her family takes peace and solace in knowing she is reunited with those who went before her and that she is now in the loving arms of God.
Rest in peace our beautiful Janice.

    Jennie,
I’m so sorry to hear about your mom’s passing. Even though life’s circumstances caused us to lose touch, every memory of her and your dad is filled with love and laughter. She was a comfort to me in the loss of Alana and in Giannas battle with cancer. She will be missed.by all who had the gift of knowing her. God bless you and your family
    Love,
    Emmy

Jennie (and Mike), Please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of your mother. Rob and I are truly sorry for your loss. Thank you for your thoughtful and meaningful gesture to invite others to honor her memory through contributions to Restore 22. Your mom sounds like a beautiful soul, which I think is obvious by knowing the beautiful daughter she raised. I wish we would have met her. Wishing you God’s peace and the comfort of His presence in the days ahead.
