Jean Ann Kenny of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away on Friday, April 27 surrounded by her family. Born January 13,1934 in Waterbury, CT, she was the daughter of the late Roger and Ann Minor. She was the sister of MaryAnn Timek, Robert Minor, and the late Roger Minor, Jr. Jean was a lifelong resident of Meriden until moving to Pittsburgh in 2013. She graduated as a registered nurse from the Meriden-Wallingford Hospital School of Nursing, and was employed for over 20 years by Dr. Vincent Pepe.

Jean is survived by her husband of 60 years, Herbert F. Kenny, Jr., and was the proud mother of five children: Herbert Kenny III (Barbara Marino), Susan Scioscia (Eugene Scioscia), Patrick Kenny (Darlene Ernest), Bonnie Kenny (Cindy Gregory), and Kevin Kenny (Barbara Karanikis).

She was the grandmother of Malorie McLaughlin, Brittany Dietz, Claire Dougherty, Andrea Scioscia, Alex Kenny, Brendan Scioscia, Nicholas Scioscia, Caitlyn Scioscia, Pearl Jean Kenny, and Keira Ann Kenny. Jean was the great grandmother of Conor and Landon Dougherty and Miles McLaughlin.

Jean watched more athletic events than any other mother on Earth. She will always be remembered as the best cheerleader and supporter for her husband’s and children’s teams.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 4, 2018, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Stempien Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home on 450 Broad St., Meriden, CT 06450. Father Mark Jette will officiate her mass at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 109 Goodwill Ave., Meriden, CT 06451. A gravesite service will immediately follow at the Walnut Grove Cemetery.
