January 01, 1970

Age 90, formerly of Wexford, died at Indiana Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, March 10, 2015. He was a much-loved man who will be greatly missed. He was born on June 7, 1924, to Edward and Grace Adams Hurley. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Church in Wexford. He served honorably in the Army during WWII. Afterwards he was employed by, and later owned, Condon Brothers Brush Company on the North Side from which he and his wife, Ruth, retired at the age of 81. He was a hard and cheerful worker. His life and words passed on wisdom to his family. Bill cherished his family, loved people and people loved him. His interests included being with his family, golf and his “golfing buddies,” anything his kids and grandkids were involved in, working in the yard and going to Florida in the winter. His Irish wit, which continued to the end, could lighten any gathering. He is survived by Ruth, his beloved wife of 67 years; daughter, Caren Trownbridge (Bill); son, Rev. Rick (Beth); sister, Patricia Hurley Nauman of Mt. Lebanon; and sister, Mary Hurley of West View. His fun-loving, youthful spirit and sense of humor will be missed by his grandchildren, Shannon Trowbridge Spahr (Chris) of Lancaster, PA, Jesse Trowbridge (Mary) of Lancaster, Shane Trowbridge of Lancaster, Rebecca Hurley Benson (Drew) of Brookline, NH, Rachel Hurley York (Andrew) of Mount Vernon, NH, Emily Hurley Devivo (Mark) of Bellefield, PA, Elise Hurley of Indiana, PA, Jessica Hurley of Indiana, PA; and 13 great-grandchildren. Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of the Blessing Service at 1 p.m. Saturday at the DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 806 Perry Highway, North Hills. There will also be a Memorial Service officiated by Rev. Rick Hurley and Rev. Bill Milligan at Graystone Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Indiana, PA on Sunday at 2 p.m. A reception will follow in the Gathering Place. Interment with full military honors will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA. Memorial gifts may be made in honor of William Hurley to Graystone Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Indiana, PA or the charity of your choice.
