Visitation: Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 24, from 5:30pm – 7:30pm, and Wednesday March 25, from 11:00am – 11:30 am
Service: Funeral service at 11:30am at Devlin Funeral Home 2678 Rochester Road, Cranberry Twp. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Pinewood Memorial Garden 20950 Rt 19, Cranberry Twp.
Walter J. Grieb 98, of Cranberry Twp, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026. Walt was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on May 20, 1927. The first of four children born to the late Walter and Eleanor (O’Hare) Grieb.
Walt proudly served in the United States Navy on a Good Will tour from May 9, 1945, to August 16, 1946, receiving an honorable discharge.
He married the former Dolores Jean (Jaap) Hahn on September 27, 1968. Walt worked in carpentry all his life beginning doing jobs himself, then working with a cousin building homes for Grieb & Schnur General Contracting. In addition, Walt worked at his father’s tavern in Homestead known as “Grieb’s Tavern”for a few years after his father’s death. Eventually he joined the Homestead Carpenters Union continuing his craft. Walt worked on several Pittsburgh projects from the US Steel Building, the formerly known Civic Arena and eventually for the Joseph Horne’s Co.
Walt loved all outdoor activities including fishing, camping, hunting, skiing, and boating. He so enjoyed his craft, working often at his home shop building furniture and other wood working projects.
Walt is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years Dolores Grieb; daughters Chrystal (Ken) Hansen, and Gail (Doug) Dean; 5 grandchildren – Ryan (Grace) Hansen, Renee (Ian) Grice, Eric Hansen, Brittany (Noah) Raymundo, and Brooke Dean; 3 great grandchildren – Braelynn and Evan Hansen, and Rowan Raymundo and 1 brother Edward Grieb.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Walter and Eleanor Grieb; 1 brother, 1 sister and 1 nephew.
Walt’s family wishes to express sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff of Bridges Hospice team for their care, support, and compassion through this journey.
