Thomas Lyons

September 19, 1919 - August 28, 2008


Age 88 on Thurs. Aug. 28, 2008. Preceded in death by his wife Edith M. Lau; and brother Jack E. Lyons. Survived by his loving daughter Ginger L. Morris and her husband Ray Morris of Bradford Woods; brother Robert Lyons of Sewickley and sister Dorothy H. Jones of Youngstown, OH. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Thomas survived in WWII in the Pacific for 20 months in New Guinea, the Philippines and Ryukus Island, Japan. He was a member of the 873rd Engineering Aviation Battalion. He spent his career at Allis- Chalmers on Pittsburgh’s North Side as a Draftsman. After retiring, he moved in 1978 from Wexford to Port Charlotte, FL, where he lived until April of 2007 when he moved to Sunrise Assisted Living in Cranberry. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, an avid golfer and will be remembered by family and friends for his smile and his caring ways towards all he knew. Friends received Sat. 1-3 & 5-7 pm at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME OF CRANBERRY, 2678 Rochester Rd., 724-772-8800, where Services will follow at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Odyssey Hospice. The family would like to thank Odyssey Hospice and Sunrise Assisted Living for their care and support.
