Stephen Matthew Staniland passed away on Sunday, March 27th. He is survived by his loving parents, William Staniland and Diane (Arena) Staniland, his brother Adam Staniland (and wife Jordan), sister Alyssa Staniland (and husband Douglas Heckmann), maternal Grandmother Esther Arena and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Stephen grew up in Cranberry Twp. He spent his high school years playing soccer. He loved his family, sports, cooking (especially anything including ranch dressing and cheese), and adventuring. His love of exploration took him to National Parks all across the United States and Central America. He especially loved living in Alaska and traveling to Arches, Joshua Tree and Zion National Parks to name a few. Climbing, rappelling, hiking and skiing were some of his favorite things. He was a beautiful soul who cared so much for his family, friends and the beautiful earth that he roamed. He will be greatly missed.

I was sitting here thinking about my first cousin tonight and decided to Google him more than a week after attending his funeral and found this beautiful obituary. Oh Steve, I was inspired by your adventurous spirit and followed you as best I could. You were a sweet cousin and I still remember your first soccer game ever. You sucked! Lol Then you ended up an MVP. So proud of you, and so sorry for your struggles. I loved you and will deeply miss you.
Uncle Bill, Aunt Diane, Adam and Alyssa, my deepest sympathies. I have so many amazing memories of all of us having fun together. Nothing will take those memories away. I pray simply for comfort and sweet memories. Love you guys so much❤️

    Bill, Diane, Adam and Alyssa,
We are so sorry to hear of Steve’s passing. It seems like yesterday that the kids were Power Rangers in the front yard. He lived a life of adventure to the fullest. The world is a darker place without his illuminating smile.
    God Bless you all,
    Rich, Barb, Amanda and RJ

Words seem inadequate to express how we
feel, but please know you are in our
thoughts. Stephen, very softly, tiptoed into
our world, almost silently and only a
moment he stayed. But what an
    imprint his footsteps have left
    upon our hearts.
    Rest In Peace, Stephen. ❤️

I will forever remember Stephen’s bright eyes, they lite up when he was excited about anything. I was so blessed to have the opportunity to work with him as a high school athlete . He could run like the wind . I loved that he went onto be an outdoor enthusiast and made his passion a career path. I will always hold onto those memories.
