Aurea C. Cowan, 100, passed away at her home on March 26, 2022. Born in Lilly, Pa. on February 2, 1922 she was the daughter of Francis J. Cassidy and Pearl Sweeney Cassidy. Aurea was raised on the North Side of Pittsburgh and was a graduate of the Holy Ghost High School in West View. She was President of the first High School Graduating Class in 1940. Two years later Aurea graduated from the Saint Francis Nursing School and was a Registered Nurse at Saint Francis Hospital and the City of Pittsburgh. In 1959 Aurea moved to Cranberry Township where she read continually, followed politics, and with her husband raised her three children.

Aurea is the Beloved wife of the late Wesley V. Cowan Jr.; loving mother of Wesley V. Cowan III (Karen), Wayne F. Cowan, and Marcia Johnson (Clarence); grandmother of Renea S. Harrington (Timothy); Wesley V. Cowan IV; and great-grandmother of Wesley V. Cowan V.

She will be deeply missed by her Family and Children.
