Sister Mary Clare Murajda

Sister Mary Clare Murajda ended her earthly life of 88 years Friday, Dec. 11, 2009. At the time of her death Sister was a member of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, Nazareth, Ky. Born in Braddock, Sister entered the Vincentian Sisters of Charity from St. Michael Parish in 1936 and served God and the Church for 73 years. She attended Duquesne University where she received a bachelor of science degree. During her years in ministry, Sister served as dietician in Pittsburgh, Pa., Youngstown, Ohio, Allison Park, Pa. Montgomery, Ala., and at the Vincentian Motherhouse, Pittsburgh. Sister Mary Clare was preceded in death by her parents, John and Barbara; brothers, John and Joseph; and sisters, Margaret and Cecilia. She is survived by two sisters, Emerentiana and Frances; and one brother, Frank; as well as her Sisters in Community. Friends are being received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at St. Louise Convent (formerly the Vincentian Motherhouse) on McKnight Road, Pittsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 3:30 p.m. Monday in the St. Louise Convent Chapel. Burial will follow in the Sisters’ cemetery on the convent grounds.
