Robert Ravenstahl, Sr.

Bob, age 90, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 1, 2015. Loving husband to Joan (Robesh) for 63 years; loving father of Robert (Cindy), Kurt (Cathy), Linda (Raymond) Gruss, Daniel (the late Maureen), and Joanne (Ned) Feeney; Bob was also the proud grandfather of 16; and great-grandfather of nine. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanette (Soupene); and father, John Roy Ravenstahl; as well as his brother, John; and sisters, Marguerite Bachor and Jeanne Ley. Bob proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine aboard the USS Anderson during World War 2. On his return he served the city of Pittsburgh Fire Department for over 20 years and retired as the Deputy Fire Chief. Later he went on to serve in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Bob was a member of the American Legion Observatory Post #81, Allegheny Elks Lodge #339, the Three Rivers Leatherneck Detachment #310 and AARP Chapter #1435. Friends will be received Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and Friday 12-3 and 6-9 p.m. at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 806 Perry Hwy., Ross Twp. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in Incarnation of the Lord Church, 4071 Franklin Rd., Pgh., PA 15214 on Saturday 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Marine Corps League, Three Rivers Leatherneck Detachment #310, P.O. Box 15433, Pgh., PA 15237.

My Mom and Father enjoyed those trips . My parent’s were friend’s with them a long time. They were Andy and Kay Hornack. I enjoyed talking to Mr. Robert Sr and his wife Joan. Bob I always talked with you about business things. What a great family the Ravenstahl. I will miss talking to him. He was a great man with a great family. Bless all of you in this time of need.
