Fichter and Richard Fichter; also survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Friends received Friday 9 a.m. until time of Blessing Service at 10:30 a.m. at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 806 Perry Hwy., North Hills, followed by private interment services in North Side Catholic Cemetery. Robert was a longtime member of Construction Laborers Local #373. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lung Cancer Program at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, 5150 Centre Ave., Pgh., PA 15232.

I’m writing because out of the blue, someone popped into my head from years ago when I was a teenager. It was Bob Fichter, my classmate at Fox Chapel High School in Pittsburgh. I wasn’t very comfortable with male classmates, but Bob was a great friend. He was far too handsome to be so selfless and sweet. Taking care of a family member, I recall. I knew he would live a good life–am so sorry he didn’t have more time. If I’m in error please forgive me. But someone named Bob Fichter was my good friend, and I’m so grateful to have known him.
