Robert McKivitz Sr. age 87, of Cranberry Township, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 8, 2024. Born May 2, 1937, son of the late Edward and Margaret Etheridge. Beloved husband of the late Audrey Louise, and Jeanne Frances McKivitz;
Father of Robert J. Jr. (Tracey), David (Marcella), Audrey Louise Puckey, Kelley Jean Walker, Nicole Shamen (Pete) Tekula, Lisa Marie (Megan), Lynn Margaret Johnson (Joshua); proud Pap of Kristina, Samantha, Megan, Christopher, Jonathan, Milania, Kinley, Carter, Capri, Trenten, Dexten; Cory, and Michael; Great Grandpa of Dillon, Madison, Austin, Wyatt, Savanna, Addison, Connor, and Hunter; Brother of Lynn Etheridge, and the late Emma Herboskey, George “Red” McKivitz, and Eddie Ethridge. Robert “Bob” McKivitz, a proud Korean War veteran, devoted family man, and dedicated community volunteer, passed away peacefully on September 8th. Bob served with distinction in the U.S. Army as an Expert Rifleman and carried his commitment to excellence into all areas of his life. An avid outdoorsman, he found joy in hunting and shared this passion with his family. His contributions to the Royal Crusaders Junior Drum and Bugle Corps, where he volunteered as Quartermaster, left a lasting impact on countless young musicians. Bob also enjoyed a successful career running his contracting business, R. McKivitz & Son. It can be said that Bob enjoyed much of what life had to offer, including all types of culinary experiences, but most especially, Bob loved spending time with his family more than anything in the whole entire world. Over the past few years, he was totally devoted to taking care of his wife, making his life purpose, giving purpose to hers.
His legacy of service, love, and dedication will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Family and friends are welcome from Thursday 4-7 pm at Devlin Funeral Home of Cranberry Township, 2678 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township. A Blessing Service will be held Friday at 10:30 am at the funeral home, officiated by Fr. David Egan.
