Jean Meridith Stewart Lynch was born in Georgetown Hospital, Washington, DC, on June 30, 1944, to the late Kenneth E. and the late Marjorie Bradley Stewart. Knowing Jesus as her Lord and Savior, she entered into His arms on the morning of August 31, 2024, at Westover Hills Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, TX.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Charles H. “Dick” Lynch, Jr. of San Antonio; sons Christopher M. (Beth) Lynch of Rockport, TX; and Andrew B. (Leah) Lynch of Indianapolis, IN; four grandchildren: Jordan C. Lynch, Jay C. Lynch, Nathan A. Lynch, and Anna G. Lynch,; and one cousin, Judy Nass of Erie, PA.
Her first job was at Allegheny College in Meadville, PA where she worked first in the Athletic Department and later as secretary to the Dean of Instruction at Allegheny College. She and her husband owned and operated a Christian Bookstore in Wexford, PA, a suburb north of Pittsburgh. Following the sale of the store, Jean worked as a medical assistant to several practices in the north Pittsburgh area. She took medical leave in 2009 and she and her husband moved to San Antonio in 2014.
Jean never met a stranger. Within minutes, they knew her story and she knew theirs. She had friends around the world and had many, many stories to share.
Jean loved animals. Since their marriage, they have owned one Belgian Sheepdog, 2 huskies, 3 Bernese Mountain Dogs, and currently, an Australian Shepherd / Springer Spaniel mix named Lucy whom they rescued in 2019.
She and her husband were members of Oak Hills Church in San Antonio.
