Service: Mass of Christian Burial Friday November 3, 2023 at 10:30 AM in St. Teresa of Avila Church, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, 800 Avila Court, Pittsburgh PA 15237

In loving memory of Robert A. Merlino, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, who peacefully departed this life on Friday, October 27, 2023, surrounded by his adoring family. Bob, as he was affectionately known, united in matrimony with the love of his life, Mary Clancy, on June 4, 1960, and together they made their home in North Hills, where they lovingly raised five children.
Bob’s life was marked by dedication and service. He honorably served in the US Army as a Paratrooper, demonstrating his commitment to his country. He was a lifetime member and former Commodore of the Oakmont Yacht Club, as well as a former Commander of the Pittsburgh Power Squadron, further attesting to his love for the water and his maritime interests.
Throughout his professional life, Bob was a proud member of Local 5 IBEW, contributing his skills and expertise over the span of several decades. Family held an unparalleled significance in Bob’s heart, and his joy was evident when he recently welcomed his first great-grandchild into the world.
In his leisure moments, Bob found solace and pleasure at their Lake Erie residence, indulging in boating, immersing himself in nautical literature, exploring lighthouses, and relishing James Bond movies. Bob and Mary treasured their companionship with dear friends, participating in Card Club gatherings, savoring the delights of Gourmet Groups, and partaking in the joys of a weekly Happy Hour.
Bob leaves behind a legacy of love and lasting memories, survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Mary, his daughter Karen Hassig (David) of Camarillo, CA, Donna Miller (Mic) of Rochester, PA, his sons John (Terri) of Port Murray, NJ, and Jeff (Tracey) of Erie, PA, along with his twin brother Charles “Buddy” Merlino. Bob’s memory lives on through his beloved grandchildren: Jessica Truskowski (Mike), Gregory, Andrea, Nicole, Anthony, Julianna, and his great-granddaughter, Peyton.
Bob was preceded in death by his oldest son, Bobby, and his brother, Jack. His legacy and the love he shared with his family and friends will forever remain in their hearts.
