CHECCA, Patricia J. Kennedy, Age 77, of Port St. Lucie, FL., passed away unexpectedly on June 16th, 2023.
Beloved wife of 53 years to Elio L. Checca; Loving mother of Laura A. Checca-Burns (John Burns) of Haymarket, VA.; Proud Grandmother of Olivia Burns; Sister of Kathleen Kennedy of Ashtabula, OH, Maureen Kennedy of West View, PA, and Harry J. Kennedy, III (Colleen) of Sewickley, PA. Aunt to Harry J. Kennedy, IV, Daniel Kennedy, Benjamin Kennedy, Carey Sullivan, Chris Checca, Joy Checca, and Alex Checca. She is survived by many loving friends and relatives.
Born in Pittsburgh on June 6th, 1946, to F. Lydia and Harry J. Kennedy, II, Patricia attended St. Benedicts Academy and Point Park College, obtaining multiple degrees in early childhood education. She went on to teach kindergarten at South Fayette Elementary School for 32 years, leading some of the most challenging children with patience and kindness. Upon her retirement, Patricia moved to Arlington, VA, to support her husband’s federal career with the Mine Safety Health Administration, often following him to the literal deep ends of the earth. Patricia enjoyed traveling, needlepoint, reading, and gardening. She was the world’s best mother, offering unconditional love and support for her daughter Laura and son-in-law John. But most of all, Patricia had a special bond with her granddaughter Olivia and granddog Paddy, whom she loved endlessly and who will miss her terribly.
A mass will be held in her memory at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, St. Athanasius Church, 7 Chalfonte Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15229, at 11 AM on Friday, June 30th.
