Monina B. Santos of Allison Park, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 24, 2018 with her family at her side. She was born on December 23, 1941 in Cagayan De Oro City, Philippines to Alfredo Busuego and Amalia Abrio and was the second eldest of 5 children. She graduated from University of Santo Thomas with a degree in Pharmacy. She was a pageant queen and ballerina and enjoyed sports and music her entire life. She married Ramon Santos, M.D. in 1970 before moving to the United States to begin their lives together and to start a family. Monina was a person of joy and laughter, and often hosted large gatherings over holidays and special occasions. She enjoyed sharing stories with her friends and family, exploring restaurants and shopping venues, and attending Mass on Sundays. A devout Catholic, Monina prayed daily and maintained a close relationship with God, which she encouraged and openly shared with others. She gave to the less fortunate and always fed those around her. She traveled the world and has set foot in many coutnries including the Philippines, United States, Canada, Mexico, England, France, Germany, Austria, Itlay, Switzerland and Spain. She typically filled the house with her piano playing or other music, often while singing along. Monina was the mother of two sons, Ramon Santos Jr. and Philip Santos. She celebrated 48 years of marriage and was also the proud grandmother of Mackenzye and Carter Santos, and mother in law to Elizabeth Santos.

Monina courageously fought cancer for over 5 years, enduring 7 different series of treaments consisting of numerous treatments within each and she achieved a remission period for over a year inside that timeframe.

Monina is survived by her siblings Luzminda Abarrientos, Romulo Busuego, Cynthia Zayas, and Mitzie Neri. She is also survived by her husband Ramon, her sons Ramon Jr and Philip, her grandchildren Mackenzye and Carter, her daughter in law Elizabeth, and 10 nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held on Tuesday 3/27, 6pm-8pm at Devlin Funeral Home of North Hills, 806 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh, PA, 15229. Memorial Service will be held at Saint Sebastian Church, 311 Seibert Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237 on Wednesday 3/28 at 10:30am.
