Mike was a V.A. colleague, boss and friend of mine. He was one of the brightest, most innovative and mission-driven individuals I had the pleasure of working with in V.A. He had endless energy, integrity and a true passion for his work. Mike was always fun to be around, whether it was discussing unique solutions to work problems, playing a very competitive round of golf, or discussing the news and issues of the day. Through our many conversations over the years, it was very clear that he adored his wife Barbara and their 3 sons. He was intensely proud of and devoted to them. Wishing peace and comfort to Barbara and the entire family. We will all miss this wonderful man.

I’m very saddened to hear of the recent passing of Mike. He and I became close friends and colleagues in 1987 while working together in Temple, Texas. I enjoyed playing many rounds of golf with Mike and our career paths overlapped many times. I was fortunate to spend the last seven years of my VA career working with and for my friend. My deepest condolences to Barbara and the entire Moreland family. God Bless!!! Bill Cox

Truly saddening to hear of Mike’s passing. Mike was a visionary. Because of his vision he positioned our VA Network to receive vital funding from the government which enabled us to provide state of the art medical care and treatment to thousands of veterans. Mike Moreland never lost sight of the sacrifices made by our nation’s military veterans. Through his efforts and actions, our medical centers continue to provide the best healthcare our veterans so richly deserve. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends who knew him. He was a most unique man who I will miss tremendously but most of all as a veteran myself I can never thank him enough for his dedication and commitment to our wonderful veterans and volunteers!

It was both a pleasure and honor to work for Mr. Moreland in the VISN 4 office. His bright smile and amazing energy was infectious and drove everyone to do their best for all Veterans. His knowledge of the VA infrastructures and veteran regulations showed his dedication to the well-being of all Veterans. My heart-felt sympathy to his wife and family.

His contributions will serve as a testimony of his unshakable beliefs and his love for his family, friends, country he served and the God he worshipped. He will be missed by many. Rest in peace my friend.
