Charlotte R. Chaousis, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, left us peacefully on September 20, 2026, at the age of 96. Born on August 8, 1930, in Marion, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Willie Ray and Beulah Anderson and grew up as a tomboy on a small farm. Charlotte lived a fulfilling life and made a lasting impact on all who knew her. It was said she never met a stranger.

Charlotte moved to Baltimore where her spouse was stationed in the Navy. She stayed in a rooming house with Joy, and Mom and Pop Long.

While working in a local typing pool, she was offered the opportunity to learn the newest typing technology: Keypunch operating, new from IBM. This opened the door for a new career. A few years later she moved to MA with her new spouse, bringing Joy and Doug along.

Charlotte thrived in Marlborough, where her children increased to four, although she had divorced. She chose to join a group of families starting a Lutheran church ministry in Marlborough in the mid-60s, and St. Stephen Lutheran Church was born, where she was a parishioner for 45 years. Charlotte was very active in sports her whole life, and she belonged to a bowling league, was always the high scorer, and enjoyed playing softball. During that time, she secured a position as a Keypunch Operator at a Marlborough Hospital. Later, after taking several courses, she became a computer operator for many years, working until her retirement in 1992.

While working at the hospital, she worked with a Boy Scout Explorers group. Teenagers would come to the hospital once a week for a lecture, where a speaker would discuss their career in the hospital. Charlotte would line up the speaker each week. She had many success stories in the Explorers.

Charlotte decided to move to PA in 2014 to live with her daughter and son-in-law, and joined Rehoboth Lutheran Church.

She was very dedicated to her family. When her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were born, she made a point to visit to see how she could assist, but most importantly to love on them. Charlotte is survived by her loving children: Ellen (Robert) Hamilton, Joy Conner (the late Luther Ishmul), Elizabeth Ann Chaousis, and the late James Douglas Chaousis (surviving Sherry Pervis). Charlotte will be dearly remembered as a granny, to Bonnie, Jamey, Sarah, Grace, James II, Justin, Amy, and Rebecca; granny-great of 18 and great-granny-great of 4, bringing immense joy and warmth into their lives.

Family and friends are welcome on Thursday from 2-4, 6-8 pm at Devlin Funeral Home of Cranberry Township, 2678 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township. Funeral Services will be held at Rehoboth Evangelical Lutheran Church Friday at 11 am with Rev. Susan Irons officiating. The family will receive guests from 10-10:50 am in the church.

Very special thanks to Home Instead Agency and Charlotte’s caregiver since March, Grace. Caring and funny. Charlotte loved you.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Charlotte’s name to Allegheny Health Network Hospice. The family wishes to thank their staff for the compassionate care provided to their mother during the last few months.

For you Granny C, a prayer:

I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have graciously kept me this day; and I pray You to forgive me all my sins where I have done wrong, and graciously keep me this night. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
