Michael C. Delahunty, Age 93 of McCandless, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Michael was born June 4, 1929, in Co. Westmeath, Ireland, son of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Grehan) Delahunty and predeceased by his brother, Sean Delahunty, and sisters Maura Dennis, Elizabeth King, and Patricia Hierlehy. Beloved husband of Josephine (O’Brien) Delahunty, and loving father of Bernadette Kapko, Michael P. Delahunty, Josephine Paytas (Ken), Elizabeth Spangler (Brian), and Patricia Alexander (Donald). Devoted “PopPop” to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
After immigrating to the United States, Mike took a job as a local salesman. His natural, friendly and honest approach sustained a long and successful sales career. Mike was often a man of few words, yet his unmistakable presence was always felt. Although usually reserved, he was always overjoyed when his family engaged in his love of history or current events. His exceeding curiosity led him to seek out every opportunity to learn, whether about news occurring halfway around the world or the latest technological development. His fondness for new technology was reflected in his eagerness to use his grandkids’ (and great grandkids’) latest devices and his certain delight when something similar was gifted to him. Above all, he was thoughtful, kind, and loved his family.
Family and friends will be received Friday, February 10, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Devlin Funeral Home, 806 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh, PA 15229.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish at Saint Teresa of Avila Church, 1000 Avila Court, Pittsburgh, PA 15237

So sorry to hear about the passing of Mike. We worked together for many years. He was a very Kind, sincere person who talked fondly about Ireland. I finally got there and know why he loved it so . Mike and your family are in my prayers.

A wonderful and full life lived. He was loved and cherished by his family. To the family, if time is the balm that eases all pain I wish you Godspeed. He will always be with you.
