I was so sad to hear this! I hung out with Dan back in the day. I wish I got to know him when he grew up. What an incredible man he grew up to be! I would have loved to have heard his story about why he chose the profession he went into and how amazing that he got his masters. To his family and friends, I’m so sorry for your loss.

Goodbye to my good friend from high school. We spent years together getting in trouble for cutting class. But as it happens with many from school, I have only run into you once in the last forty years. Unfortunately, at a funeral of another friend. I’ve thought of you often over the years. Hoping to bump into you somewhere. Today, I reminisced about you with my wife and co-workers. I laughed at a couple stories I told. Which reminded me of your laugh. Didn’t even realize I could remember it until today. I told the story of how we helped build the Easter
display/train in Northway Mall. 1980 maybe… or 81… and we got into a staple gun war… like you do… you buried that staple so far in my breastplate we needed pliers to yank it out. I think it was sore for 19 years. God speed my friend. You were a good guy all those years ago and it looks like you stayed a good guy. Maybe someday we can cut third period again.

Dearest McGivern family…I wanted to extend from the Zubik family our deepest condolences and sympathies as to Dan’s passing..he was a treasured friend who we had lost contact with and I have resided in Atlanta for 32 years now. I attended many classes with Dan in high school and my brother Charlie and a crew of us hung out a lot at parties at North Park and at our houses and at the boathouse cruising and so many fun get togethers over the years…my Mom Janet and Eileen became friends as well…I love how Dan pursued a career in helping others given his own sorrows with his brother and our friend Mikes untimely passing who was taken from us way too soon. We take comfort in knowing that they are all reunited and catching up over all these years apart! Love you my sweet friend who you affectionately called me Bun Bun because Inwore my hair up in a bun a lot!😘❤️‍🩹
