Maurice E. “Maurie” Lerch, 88, of Ross, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011. He was the beloved husband of Mary Frances (O’Byrne) Lerch; loving father of Stephen E. (Renee) Lerch, Marty J. (Ginger) Lerch, Mark F. (Lorraine) Lerch, John M. (Kimberly) Lerch, Jeannie (Ray) Wattras, Cathy A. (Geoffrey) Dalbow and Linda M. (Brad) Forrester; proud grandfather of Colin, Lauren, Greg, Melanie, Mary Frances, Shannon, Stephen, Rick, Tara, Jonathan, Kylie, Brendan, Connor and Trinity; great-grandfather of Dante and Alex; and brother of Frank Lerch (Lucy). Maurie was retired after 45 years with H.J. Heinz Co. He was a World War II 82nd Airborne veteran receiving the Bronze Star. Maurie was also an active member of St. Teresa of Avila Church for more than 57 years, serving as Eucharistic minister, lector, usher, altar server, parish council, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and many other Parish organizations. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at T.B. DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 806 Perry Highway, Ross. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Teresa of Avila Church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Teresa of Avila Church.
