Visitation: No Visitation
Service: Private
Mary Lois Loftus, 94, of McCandless, PA passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. Lois joins her husband, the late James Milton Loftus, in her heavenly destination, along with her siblings, James Bailey, Donald Bailey, Jean Kaufman, and Ruth Neison.
Lois was born on April 6, 1929 to the late James Patrick Bailey and Mary Agnes (Stagner) Bailey in Pittsburgh’s Lawrenceville, where she deeply rooted her own family. As a dedicated woman of faith, she was a parishioner of St. Kieran’s where she attended grade school, wed her husband, and played the organ. She graduated from Saint Lawrence O’Toole High School as Salutatorian and President of the Debate Team. For decades she worked on the same block, first at Keystone Candies, and later as the owner of Loftus Florist, where she created beauty for countless neighboring families. Her leadership and attention to detail positioned her as one of the first female board members of Stanton Federal Savings Bank.
She later became a licensed Real Estate Agent, volunteered at the Benedum Center for the Performing Arts, and taught her family to make pies that rivaled the country’s best bakeries. She enjoyed sewing and knitting, and loved guessing the current worth of Lawrenceville real estate.
Lois was, simply put, a class-act and a lady.
She is survived by her children Paul (Bridget) Loftus of Hampton, Jeanine (Chris) Simithraaratchy formerly of Greensburg, and James (Candy) Loftus of Wexford; was Grandmother to Nicole (Mike) Mortellaro, Colin Simithraaratchy, Brian Loftus, Bridget (Max) DeLuca, Mark (Kenzie) Simithraaratchy, MacDara Loftus Leibert, Kiera and Clare Loftus; was Gigi to Bridget, Julianna, and Nicholas DeLuca, Elyse and Vienna Mortellaro, and James Leibert; was dear cousin to Dolores Bailey.
No visitation. Interment at Calvary Cemetery will be private. Arrangements by Devlin Funeral Home, Ross.

Jeanine & Chris – We are sorry to hear of your Mother’s passing. She was a woman who put her family first and was a successful business woman. May God give you peace in her passing.
Mrs Loftus was gracious and charming and never failed to ask about family. She loved her children and worked to make a memory for her each of the grandchildren and great grandchildren…never idle hands as she was hand crafting those memories! May those memories be comfort to all and a smile for her long, well-lived life
