Stawecki
Mary H. (Petkovich)

Age 88, of McCandless Twp., formerly of Ross Twp., passed away peacefully on April 11, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Born July 1, 1935, Mary was the daughter of the late Frank and Helen (Hripko) Petkovich; the beloved wife of the late Chester A. Stawecki for 63 years; loving mother of Mary Ann Shaw (Derek Linden) and Cathy M. Bricker; grandmother of Jonathan Bricker (Kim), Alexander Bricker (Kaylee), Madeline Shaw and Olivia Shaw; great-grandmother to Watson Bricker; and sister to Frank Petkovich and Helen Dean.

Mary took great comfort in her Catholic faith and enjoyed sharing time with family and friends. For 27 years, she worked at H.J. Heinz Company in a variety of roles, with her last position in the quality control lab. She retired in 1995, spending time traveling with her husband, dining out, solving word puzzles, enjoying game shows, and devoting her life to prayer. In the last four years, she developed close friendships with the staff and residents at Vincentian, becoming an ace at bingo, painting, and crafts and while there, Mary was best known for her dry sense of humor and great enthusiasm for a party.

Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects on Tuesday, April 16 from 10:00 to 11:30 AM at Devlin Funeral Home, 806 Perry Hwy., North Hills. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at noon at St. Teresa of Avila Church (Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish) with interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

To your family, so many fun memories as we grew up together. They will remain in our hearts…laughter and jokes abound! My parents, Ed and Terri Novak, shared many backyard cookouts and amazing stories of younger days. The Lord has been good to all. May Jesus surround you with His peace that passes all understanding.

Mary, the first day we met you welcomed me into your family and that welcome and love continued forward to the day you departed this life.

Whenever your daughter Mary Ann and I visited there were always good times, great meals and laughter to share.

Mom, to know that I could be with you at the end of your journey here is the greatest gift and, for that, I will be forever grateful. I know that you are with dad and that makes me joyful. I feel content knowing how much you enjoyed the last four years meeting new friends and taking up a few new hobbies – who knew you could paint? You will be forever in my heart. Until we see each other again. I love you.
