Mary Agnes C. Birkholz, age 98, of Ben Avon, PA, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 8, 2026. Born on April 7, 1928, in Pittsburgh, PA, Mary Agnes dedicated her life to her Family embodying love and warmth that radiated through her home.
Mary Agnes is survived by, and was the beloved wife of Edward F. Birkholz Sr., with whom after a 2 week courtship got engaged and married one year later on June 11, 1949. Next month they would have celebrated 77 years of a very happy and committed marriage. Together, they created a life filled with cherished memories and unconditional love. She was a nurturing and devoted mother to her four children: Christine Ross, (the late John) of Birmingham, Alabama, Richard (Lorri) of Wexford, PA, Edward Jr. (Theresa) of Cranberry Twp. PA and William (Kathy) of Englewood, FL. She was also a Foster parent to Jane (Lloyd) Rector of CA, and her sister Diane Lloyd, Mi. who claim she had a positive and life changing influence on their lives. Her legacy of love will continue through her 15 grandchildren: Carolyn, John, Amelia, Andrew, Aaron, Ross, Stephanie, Allison, Michele, Jennifer, Lauren, Kristin, Celia, Mindy, Mike and 23 great grandchildren, who held a special place in her heart and all fondly referred to her as MumMum. Mary Agnes (Sis) was also the sister of the late Anthony, Arthur and Bernard Victor.
Mary Agnes will be remembered for her boundless love, kind spirit, and social engagement to the countless lives she touched throughout her long lived journey. She will be dearly missed.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, May 16, from 9:00 to 10:50 am at Devlin Funeral Home, 2678 Rochester Rd., Cranberry Township, PA. A blessing service will follow at 11:00 at the funeral home. A private Entombment will take place at a later date at Christ Our Redeemer Cemetery, where she will be next to her beloved Mother, Agnes C. Victor.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial gifts be made to Concordia of Cranberry, an organization that provided compassionate care to Mary Agnes in her later months.
