Visitation: No Visitation

Service: Private

On Sunday, May 17, 2026, Lorraine P. Snodgrass of McCandless passed over to the other
side.
She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Lou Snodgrass, her parents A.B.
Parker and Alma Parker (Ott), and brother “Gernie” Parker.
She is survived by her children, daughter Cindy A. Snodgrass, son Craig H. (Amy
Schweinforth) Snodgrass, and youngest son Paul M. Snodgrass. Grandchildren Erin
(Enrique) Beasley-Gutierrez, Aimee (Dillon) Beasley-Hunter, Sean (Haliegh) Snodgrass, and
Christian (fiancée Kelsey Brooks) Snodgrass. Great-grandchildren Amelia and Callum.
Born soon after the stock market crash November 6, 1929, in Whitaker Lorraine and family
soon moved to Avalon where she attended Avalon High School graduating in 1947. After
high school she worked for her father, A.B. Parker, and his brothers at Parker Chevrolet as
a secretary.
In 1950, she married Roger Beutler and had her daughter Cindy but divorced in 1953. In
1956, she met W. L. Snodgrass and they were married in Washington DC. They returned to
Pittsburgh, and she found a house in McCandless where they made a home. In 1957, Craig
came along followed by Paul in 1958.
She was a Homemaker until 1971 when she went to work in the mailroom for North
Allegheny School District moving up and becoming the guidance secretary at Carson
Middle School. She loved her job dearly along with her coworkers, administrators, and
especially the students. She said that her job was “to be sure that any student that came
into the guidance office felt safe and could talk to her”. She stayed at that job for 30 years
before retiring. By then she had grandchildren and spoiling them was her priority until she
had great grandchildren to then spoil.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of one’s choice in
mom’s name. There will be a private interment ceremony later this summer and a
celebration of life this fall. Contact Paul at the house number for information.

Our thoughts and prayers for the entire Snodgrass family. The Martens and Snodgrass history goes back many years with the marriage of Ed and my cousin Elaine. Lorraine and Lou were close neighbors. Both of our children attended Carson Middle school before graduating from North Allegheny. Our deepest sympathies to Cindy, Craig and Paul. Pam and Bob Martens

I worked at Carson Middle School the entire time that Lorraine was the Guidance Secretary. She was one of the most treasured staff members. Everyone liked her. She was always friendly with a kind word and a big smile to all. She remembered the names of our family members and would ask about them when we stopped at her desk. And she was soooo efficient at her job. She knew the names of the kids who came in and chatted with them as they waited for their counselor. Lorraine really was a very special person. I am sorry for your family’s loss.
