Of McCandless Twp. Passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 27, 2023. Born in Pittsburgh, Pa on December 30, 1932. Son of the late Michael “Joe” and Catherine Nora McBurney. Beloved husband of 49 years to Maureen (Hastings) McBurney; loving father of Michael Joseph McBurney and Nora Ann McBurney; brother of the late Katherine and Elizabeth “Sis” McBurney.
Joe professionally  trained and much celebrated tenor; veteran of the 3rd Armored Division; English teacher in the Pittsburgh Public Schools for 34 years, with a Masters in English from the University of Pittsburgh. Memorial gifts may be made to The Little Sisters of the Poor, 1028 Benton Avenue,Pittsburgh, PA 15212.
Friends received Monday, 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Devlin Funeral Home, Inc., 806 Perry Hwy, North Hills. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, St. Sebastian Church, Tuesday, at 10:00 a.m.
