John Thomas Caye
February 18, 1972 - January 13, 2023
Visitation: Monday 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 1000 Avila Ct, Pittsburgh, Pa 15237 at 10:00 a.m.
John Thomas Caye, 50, of New Stanton, PA passed away on January 13, 2023.
John was a lifelong bachelor and Pittsburgher whom family and friends alike remember for his gentle spirit and willingness to lend a hand or ear to anyone in need. He grew up in Murrysville and is an alumnus of Greensburg Central Catholic H.S., and also attended Grove City College and the Univ. of Pitt-Greensburg.
John worked for many years as a physical security technology analyst at FirstEnergy in Greensburg; previously, he worked for West Penn Power and Westinghouse Electric.
Co-workers valued his caring albeit satirical manner, his proactive approach (aka West Penn style ) and his strong sense of integrity to getting the job done right the first time.
John was known for his quirky sense of humor and a love of sports cars— including his Kermit-the-frog green Mustang, and he had a resourceful talent for repairing ‘vintage’ cars with duct tape. He was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates primarily because of his treasured memories from attending many games together with his dad and best friend, Thomas E. Caye, who died in 2014.
He is survived by his mother JoAnn, sister Jennifer (husband Christopher), and sister Susan (Guy) along with five nephews, a niece, and many cousins, aunts and uncles.
A Catholic funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, St. Teresa of Avila Church in Ross Township on January 23, 2023 at 10 AM; Visitation at the church at 9:30 AM prior to Mass. Rite of interment will follow at Christ Our Redeemer Cemetery in the North Hills.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, a charity that was always close to John’s heart.
Condolences may be sent to: Jo Ann Caye and Jennifer Caye Yeung, 781 four Seasons Rd, Westminster, MD 21157 or Susan Caye Jorstad, 700 Kennedy Ct, East Strousburg, Pa 18301.

When John and I were forced to work Saturdays we would spend the morning listening to WHJB fm radio trying to win contests for a free dinner to the old Hollow Tavern Restaurant . .It’s hard to believe John’s gone.
So very sorry for your loss. John was my neighbor in New Stanton. We often got each others packages from Amazon and chatted when we delivered them to each other. He was also at GCCHS when I worked there. May he rest in peace and may your memories bring peace to all of you.
I worked with John at West Penn Power. His mild manner and jovial attitude always lifted spirits. He is surely at peace with the almighty. Rest in peace John.
Sending our deepest condolences and a promise of continued prayers.

I remember when the
I remember when the Caye family moved next door to my late husband and me when we moved to Murrysville Pa. They became our best neighbors and I watched John and his sisters grow from school kids to adulthood. They were a wonderful christian family and John and his sisters were special to us . I’ll never forget when John and one of his sisters got an emergency call from me when my house was a mess and distant relatives of ours called and asked if they could stop by that evening to visit !!!! John and his sister helped me change sheets and clear clutter in a jiffy !!! I couldn’t tell if John really enjoyed it , but they saved my day and i’ll never forget their kindness . Joanne , Jenny , Sue and family, I’ve got my arms around you. I love you and can feel your pain right now. I’m always available when you need a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen.
Forever with love and sympathy. Becky Petrie

Will remember John always in our prayers until we meet again
I worked with John for many years at Cabin Hill (for West Penn Power). He was such a nice guy and I was fortunate enough to have had the chance to see him before I retired last year. Was wondering why he hadn’t responded to my emails recently. I am so sorry for your loss. He will be missed. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
