95, of Cranberry Township, formerly of Export, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015. He was born June 20, 1919, in Export, son of the late John and Stella (Kosinksky) Nider. He worked at Westinghouse Electric, East Pittsburgh, as a winder. He was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Export, charter member of the Knights of Columbus Manordale Valley Council 4226 in Murrysville and a member of American Legion Frank Kapusta Post 858 in Export. He was an avid fisherman and golfer. He was a diehard Pittsburgh Pirates fan and witnessed Babe Ruth’s last home runs in Forbes Field. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Lalish) Nider; brothers, Joseph and Michael Nider; sister, Teresa Visnick, and brother-in-law, Miller “Mops” Visnick. Surviving are nephews, James and John (Carole Sudar) Visnick, and also friends and other relatives. Funeral services provided by DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME OF CRANBERRY, 2678 Rochester Road, 724-772-8800. There will be no viewing. Please gather for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Kilian Church, 205 Clark St., Mars. The family of John would like to express their thanks to the staff and nurses at Paramount Senior Living and Paramount Hospice for the excellent care of him over the past four years.
