Jessica Ann Bentz, age 42 of McCandless, PA peacefully began her next journey after a life filled with love and laughter on Sunday May 21st, 2023 surrounded by those who loved her most. Beloved wife for 9 years to Casey Bentz. Loving Mother to Tyler Bentz. Perfect Daughter to Jackie Parker (Randy Parker) and Daughter-in-law to Judy Bentz. Sensational Sister to Michael B Gaffey (Adrienne Nobile) & Daniel J Gaffey (Jessica Gaffey) and Bonus Sister to Stephanie Urban (Eric Urban) and Bryan Parker. Adored Aunt to Gage and Brooke Gaffey, Finn and Nova Urban and bonus nieces and nephews Dean, Grace, Alivia, and Emilia. Cherished Friend to Shayla Cammarata, Kristen Eifert, Leslie Wilson and Dana Gibson. She is preceded by her father, R. Brian Gaffey and Father in Law Tom Bentz. Also survived by countless loving friends and relatives.
Among her many accomplishments, Jessica graduated from Hempfield High School in 1999 and continued her education at Robert Morris with a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Management in 2006. She was a fierce competitor earning no less than 30 Track & Field and Cross Country medals for the Hempfield Spartans and was inducted to the Hempfield Hall of Fame. She continued her running career at Robert Morris proudly as a Colonial alongside her favorite “D1 girls.” She excelled in her career for many years at Vision Care in Wexford as an office manager and worked for the last year with Integrity Wealth Consulting endearingly named CFO or “Certified Fun Officer.”
Despite all of that, her highest accomplishment was that of a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister and a friend. She entered motherhood as though an expert knowing when to push, when to pull and most importantly when to listen. She had the uncanny ability to see those she loved for who they were and unconditionally loved them for it. She would see more in you than you ever saw in yourself and unveil that with grace and love allowing your truest potential to become a reality. Most of all, Jess would want to be remembered by the simplicity of connection. Whether traveling the world or sitting on her back patio, she taught us that together we are stronger, that love is endless without bounds and shadow dancing is the most fun of all.
Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
~Mary Elizabeth Frye

I am so sorry to the Bentz family for your loss. Jess and I were chemo buddies at Passavant and I am so shocked to hear of her passing. She was such an inspiration to me – she was further down the road on her cancer journey than I was and she was so encouraging and inspiring when we were getting treatments together. Her encouragement, inspiration, and comeradery will be sorely missed.
Our sincere condolences to Jessica’s family and friends. We were fortunate to know her through her work at IWC. She was always the perfect balance of friendliness and professionalism. Hoping that some solace can be found in wonderful memories of a beautiful life well-lived.
