Jean Ferguson Parsons (Ashmun), 96, passed peacefully on March 31 at Sherwood Oaks. Born December 22, 1923, Jean loved life, learning, art, antiques, family, and the Lord. Jean was a lifelong painter having started her career as a fashion illustrator. Leaves behind her best friend and husband, Fred Parsons; sister, Diane Engel, of Massachusetts; daughters, Kathryn Aufman (Edward) and Betsy Alexis (Richard); son, Douglas Ashmun (Brenda); eight grandchildren; oodles of great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and Fred’s sons, Jeffrey (Jeannine) and Thomas (Jody). Jean graduated from Denison University where she was a Kappa Kappa Gamma and met her first husband, Dr. Lee Ashmun. They resided in Dayton, OH, retiring to Hanover, NH, until his passing in 2010. Her final decade was spent in Pittsburgh near daughter Kathy and extended family. Her time at Sherwood Oaks was filled with new adventures, opportunities, a new best friend, and much love. Thanks to Fred and everyone at Sherwood Oaks for such great love and care. A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
