James “Jimmy” F. Barrett, 78, of West View passed away on May 24, 2024. Son of the late James and Veronica Barrett; brother to John (the late MaryAnn) Barrett; uncle to Brian (Shelby) Barrett and Melissa (Nick Carangio) Barrett; great uncle to Jackson, Emery, Addison and Jacob.
Jimmy was a graduate of IUP and Duquesne University.
He served as a juvenile probation officer for Allegheny County for thirty years.
In his spare time, Jimmy enjoyed lifting weights, running and swimming. He liked hiking and loved wildlife, especially red foxes. Jimmy was an avid skier, having learned to ski in the Adirondack Mountains where he spent part of his childhood.
In his later years, he enjoyed going out to dinner with his family at his favorite restaurant.
Mass of Christian burial will take place on June 5, 2024 10:30 AM, at St. Teresa of Avila Church, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish. Services are handled by Devlin Funeral Home.
Deepest sympathy to John, Brian, Missy, Nick, Shelby and his great nieces and nephews on the passing of Jimmy. He was a great and fun person and we used to hang out with Bill Kohlmeyer in Squirrel Hill in the 80’s. God bless Jimmy!
