White
James Francis
Age 78, of West View, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2026.
Proud father of Martin Miller, John (Becky) White, and James (Whitney) White. Beloved grandfather of John-Paul, Rachel, Alan, and Natasha Miller; James, Hunter, and Brooks White and Luci Mancuso; and Ellie and William White. Loving brother of John White and the late Jay White. Jim is also survived by his devoted partner Helen Snead, his former wife Karen White, and many other treasured family and friends.
Jim was an erudite man, learned beyond the classroom. His curiosity and knowledge had no bounds; from maths and sciences to computer programming to history to literature to travel to music, Jim sought to know as much as he could about as many topics as he could and frequently and eagerly shared his knowledge with friends and family – often with a hefty dose of humor, a classic ‘dad’ joke, or a sly pun.
Jim was proud to be a Freemason and served as Past Master of the Oakdale Lodge No. 669; he attributed much of his success in life to the foundation laid by the Freemasons and the education he received at the Thomas Ranken Patton Masonic School for Boys. Through his role with the Masons, Jim was dedicated to ‘paying it forward’ for children and the community at large.
Above all else, Jim was beyond proud of his sons and grandchildren. He loved nothing more than being in the company of his family, whether that was getting ice balls at Gus & YiaYia’s, having adventure days with his grandsons, watching his grandchildren in their extracurricular activities, or simply sitting poolside in the summers while his grandkids played and laughed. Even as he quietly battled myriad health challenges, he pushed himself to continue attending events and cheering on his grandkids, not wanting to miss a moment with them. His mantra to “Be Good and Ask Questions” was instilled in his children and grandchildren and will forever live on in them.
Jim is dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Friends will be received Saturday from 2 pm – 6 pm at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME 806 Perry Hwy., Pgh, PA 15229. A Masonic service will take place at 5:30 pm. The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Jim’s name to the Pennsylvania Masonic Youth Foundation, Patton Hall, 1244 Bainbridge Road, Elizabethtown, PA 17022.

Hoy (Jim) was my first boyhood friend.
Our mother’s put us together in 1953.
I was 3 and Jim was 4. Our friendship continued for the next 74 years. His sense of humor was second to none. You will be greatly missed my dear friend. Rest in peace.
