Helen E Glitsch Ondek, lifelong resident of Pittsburgh, passed away July 28, 2023 after 99 years of a busy life.
Helen was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Edward Ondek, and son Bill Ondek.
Helen leaves behind son Ed, Bill’s fiance Karen Jacobs, sons Rich (Carol), Dave (Sally), and Tom (Katy)
Grandchildren Marla Timms, Tracey Ondek, Eddie Ondek, Melanie Ondek (Jeff Miskis), Christine (Greg) Hagan, Rachel Ondek, Mike Ondek, Tom (Rachel) Ondek, Matt Ondek, Andy (Sarah) Ondek.
Great grandchildren Mason and Madison Timms, and Micah Miskis, and one sister, Lois McKay, many nieces and nephews.
Helen grew up in Brighton Heights, graduated from Oliver High School in 1942 and was employed by the US government in various roles during WWII before she married Edward Ondek in 1946.
After raising her children, Helen re-entered the workforce with Mental Health Support Services in Pittsburgh. During this time, she acquired her real estate license, which she maintained into her 80’s,
and was employed by the offices of Stonebridge Real Estate until almost 90 years of age.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 5-8 PM at DEVLIN Funeral Home, 806 Perry Hwy. Mass of Christian burial Wednesday 10 AM at Assumption Roman Catholic Church, Regina Coeli Parish.

    I worked at St. John’s Hospital a few different positions but as mail clerk I delivered to the house at the corner of Antrim and McClure where Helen worked and got to know her. And her son’s bar on Shadeland ond Woodland Avenue. RIP, till we meet again.
