Frank James “Jim” Rossetti
With sadness yet unwavering hope in the Resurrection, we share the repose of Frank James “Jim” Rossetti, who peacefully fell asleep in the Lord on July 11, 2026, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 82.
Jim was the beloved husband of Teresa (Sophia) Rossetti, with whom he shared 57 years of faithful marriage, friendship, and unshakable love. Together, they built a home rooted in faith, generosity, laughter, and devotion to family.
Born on October 27, 1943, Jim was the cherished son of the late Frank A. Rossetti and Dora (Osta) Rossetti, and the loving brother of the late William E. Rossetti. He was particularly proud of his ancestors, Christina Georgina Rossetti and Dante Gabriel Rossetti, to whom he attributed his love of poetry, literature, and the arts. He was also preceded in death by his forever best buddy, Gaetano “Tom” Cincotta; his beloved nephew, Stevie; and his faithful dog, Max, who brought him years of loyal companionship, often curling up atop his feet.
Jim was a devoted father to Dina Ann Solomon (Sean) and Dcn. James Michael Rossetti, D.O. (Karoline). Nothing brought him greater joy than being “Papa” to his grandchildren: Isabelle Marie Boynton (Jake), Mary Claire Rossetti, Adrianna Natalia Rossetti, Elena Cecelia Rossetti, Noelle Ileana Rossetti, and Justin Michael Giorgio. He was also eagerly anticipating the arrival of his first great-granddaughter, who will forever be a treasured part of his legacy. He is also lovingly remembered by several aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Jim graduated from Siena College with a degree in Economics. A humanitarian who valued discourse on the United States’ role in the greater good of the world, he was also enrolled in the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps. Upon graduation, he began a distinguished 40-year career as a Contract Administrator/Manager between the Knolls Atomic Power Lab and the General Electric Company, where he earned the respect of colleagues through his dedication, integrity, and strong work ethic.
Outside of work, Jim lived life with enthusiasm and purpose. He loved spending time fishing, camping, perfecting meals on the grill, enjoying classic comics or cartoons, and tackling just about any home repair project. There seemed to be nothing he couldn’t fix. He had a deep appreciation for Cadillacs and enjoyed the fellowship found in the many organizations to which he belonged, including the Order of St. Ignatius, where he was honored as a Knight, the Rotterdam Elks Club, Rotterdam Eagles, KAPL Kot Kats, and the Kiwanis Club of Glenville.
A lifelong learner and gifted writer, Jim possessed a poetic spirit and an inquisitive mind. He loved meaningful conversation, philosophy, and the search for truth. His Orthodox Christian faith shaped every aspect of his life. As a devoted parishioner of St. Moses the Black Orthodox Church, he looked to his patron saint, Symeon the God-Receiver, as an example of patient faith, steadfast hope, and joyful expectation of Christ. His love for Christ guided his words, his actions, and his relationships. His quiet faith, humility, and compassion were evident in the way he cared for others.
Jim was the consummate family man. Selfless to his core, he never hesitated to set aside whatever he was doing if one of his children or grandchildren needed him. Whether offering practical help, wise counsel, unwavering encouragement, or simply his reassuring presence, he was always there. His family knew they could count on him without question. Family vacations were a treasured pastime, even when they included helping his grandchildren write essays or solve statistics problems.
Jim also had a wonderful sense of humor and loved a deep belly laugh. He was known for his quick wit, unforgettable one-liners, hilarious movie quotes, and sayings that family and friends will continue to repeat for years to come. He was a devoted fan of the Buffalo Bills and the New York Yankees, celebrating victories and enduring defeats with equal loyalty.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Matthew Hensley, Dr. Ricci Minella, the compassionate staff of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and the caregivers of Bridges Hospice for the exceptional care, kindness, and dignity they provided during Jim’s final days. They offer their deepest appreciation to His Grace Bishop THOMAS, Fr. Paul Abernathy, Fr. Maximos Nnachette, and Fr. Justin Mokhiber for their faithful pastoral care, prayers, and the spiritual comfort they brought to Jim and his family throughout his illness and in preparing him for his peaceful repose in Christ.
Though our hearts grieve his absence, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ. Jim’s legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the faith he lived, the wisdom he generously shared, and the countless lives he touched through his kindness, humility, humor, and love.
“Don’t let the bastards get you down.” Love, Papa.
Memory Eternal! Christ is Risen!
