Frank J. Zervos

Age 61, of Adams Twp., passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 28, 2021. Born May 9, 1959, he was the beloved son of John and Sofia (Logothetis) Zervos and husband of Mary Zervos, whom he married on May 21, 1994; devoted father of Maria and John Zervos.

Whenever Frank walked in a room his charisma was unmistakable. He was larger than life -regardless of his mood and never had a problem letting you know exactly what was on his mind. Frank had a way of making everybody, even those he just met, feel like they knew him for a lifetime. Young at heart, Frank had his own unique view of the world. He was a devoted family man, and would do anything for anyone that needed his help.

He grew up in Glen Dale, West Virginia surrounded by close friends and a large Greek family. Frank was thought of as a brother to all that knew him. He was known to all his friends as “Ziggy”. He was a star track and cross country runner in high school.

Frank took great pride in his craft and founded his own construction and development business, FMZ Construction. For over twenty years, and put his heart and soul into everything he built. He was highly regarded as a man of honesty and integrity.

Whether he was in the woods or the water Frank was happiest when he was outside, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Anyone that met him knew “he lived in Florida for 17 years” and was the Captain of a deep sea fishing boat, the JoJe II in Clearwater. Frank loved live music, going to concerts and music festivals. He was an exceptional cook, even though he never followed a recipe; a skill he learned from his mother. He especially enjoyed sharing his food with friends and family.

Frank is also survived by his sisters and brother, Venetia (Costa) Chryssofos, Irene (Todd) Katres, and Nick (Amy) Zervos; and brother-in-law to Marc (Shonda) Asaad, eleven nieces and nephews, and many friends, who will all miss him dearly.

Family and friends are welcome on Tuesday, May 4th from 4-8 pm at Devlin Funeral Home of Cranberry, 2678 Rochester Road, Cranberry Twp. A service will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in McCandless on Wednesday, May 5th at 10 am.

I am lucky to say that Frank was a friend of mine. I remember pulling into a new development and asking the man on the bulldozer who the builder is. Frank climbed down and said he was. We walked the development and I put money down on my new house right there and then. Mary and family, I am sorry for your loss. Please know that I am keeping Frank you and your family in my prayers.

I was shocked at Frank’s passing. I had known who he was since high school due his track and cross country prowess. In college, I became friends with Ziggy and always considered him a good friend. Our families had a life-long connection as my Yia Yia and Mrs. Zervos would cook together. Their Easter bread was the best. Mrs. Zervos told me my grandmother taught her the right way to make it. I still find it hard to believe my buddy Ziggy is gone. I got see him and meet his family at the Wheeling Bluesfest 2 years ago. He was still the same great guy. I pray for him and his family to find the peace of Christ.
