Frances Lear (Gibson) Borrebach
Age 96 passed away on January 25, 2022 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Cranberry Township. Born in Harlingen, TX, she was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Lola Lear, her beloved husbands, Robert Park Gibson (53 years) and Edwin John Borrebach (18 years), and her much loved brother, Norman Joe Lear, Sr.
Frances (“Pug”) is survived by three children, Carol Wilson, Edith Sutton (Steven), and Neil Gibson; 6 grandchildren, Lesley Forrester, Samantha Wilson (Donald Sheldon), Tyler Sutton, Emily Sutton, Jason Gibson, and Carissa Gibson Darm (Rickard); 8 great-grandchildren, Dawn Elizabeth, Richard, Krystelle, Elliot, Edan, Cinneide, Rickard, and Henry; and an extended Borrebach “bonus family” by marriage including David (Margaret Kinsky), Jean (Vann Weldon), Donald (Carol Javna), and James (Janet), 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Following WW II she and Bob raised their family in Edgewood. During the 60’s and 70’s Frances worked as Administrative Assistant to the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs at Carnegie Mellon University. She loved to entertain family and friends and was known for her warmth and enthusiasm. She took special joy in traveling with Ed both in the US and abroad.
A public memorial celebration will be held later in the year. The family suggests memorial gifts to the Sherwood Oaks Scholarship Fund, 100 Norman Dr., Cranberry Twp., PA 16066 or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
