Emauel Franczyk

Age 97, of Ross, on Tuesday, April 26, 2016. Born July 3, 1918, in Vandergrift to the late Andrew and Anna (Dziak) Franczyk. He graduated from Vandergrift High School. He enlisted in the Marine Corps and served in the Marine Air Group 25 (MAG 25) with numerous flights to Sydney, Australia, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Guadalcanal and many other islands in the South Pacific. He worked at Duquesne Light Company in Cheswick retiring as Control Room operator after 36 years. He was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Roman Catholic Church in Perrysville. He enjoyed traveling to all 50 states, Mexico and Canada by car or bus. Hawaii was during the war. He also enjoyed gardening, yard work, crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles in the winter months and spending time with family. He is survived by his children, Tom (Susan) Franczyk, Marge Gondak and Judy Yedlowski; his brother, Henry Franczyk; and sister, Helen Kolakowski. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Renae and Bob Yedlowski; and by stepchildren, Bob (Marie) Minsky and Jean Poniatowski; step-grandchildren, Sheila Gamberdella, Dan Minsky, Lisa McPherson and Lori Studebaker; seven step-great- grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Albert and Bernard, both killed in WWII. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Simko Franczyk who died in 1954, and his wife of 57 years, Grace C. (Minsky) Franczyk who died October 21, 2015. Friends will be received Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 806 Perry Highway, where a Blessing Service will be held on Friday at 11:30 a.m.
