May 19, 1945 – June 29, 2025

Betty Miller, age 80 of McCandless Township, is finally resting in the loving arms of Jesus, Sunday, June 29th. She was born on May 19, 1945 in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late Joseph Jacob and Josephine Elizabeth (Beck) Newman. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Wilk.

Betty graduated from North Hills High School. For many years she ran her own sewing business where she did alterations and repairs. She then worked as a library assistant in the North Allegheny School District.

Coaching and volunteering for Special Olympics was one of Betty’s passions. She also was a volunteer for Urban Impact in the Northside. Researching genealogy for the family and for all of her friends was her latest project. She was a contributor to Find a Grave and located and documented the African American Military Cemetery. Betty exemplified Christlike dedication and service to the church, family, friends, and the community. She will be missed by many who called her “Friend”.

Surviving is her son, John A. Miller (Christine) (Indiana, PA), daughter, Jennifer Ann Miller, grandsons, Ethan Hunter Miller (Olivia) (Indiana, PA), and Evan Garrett Miller (Hawaii), her sister, Marg Foster, and her brother, Jim Newman (Babs) (Roanoke, VA).

Family will welcome friends at the Devlin Funeral Home, 806 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh, PA 15229 on Sunday, July 6th from 1-5 PM. Funeral Service is at Christ Church at Grove Farm, 249 Duff Rd., Sewickley, PA 15143 on Monday, July 7th at 12:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Urban Impact Foundation, PO Box 99518, Pittsburgh, PA 15233.
