Died peacefully on October 11, 2010. He was 93 years of age of Ross Twp.. Husband of the late Mercedes M. (Baumbeck) Lawry; and is survived by 7 children, Mercedes Lawry, Edward J. Lawry, Jr. (Diana), Mark Lawry (Diane), Lee Lawry (Lynne), Mary Lynn Smith, Beth Lawry and Melissa Doubet (Casey); also survived by nine grandchildren. The son of the late Thomas Lawry (former Burgess of Emsworth) and Philomena. Edward was a WWII Veteran who had served overseas. He was extremely proud of attending Kiski Prep School and the University of Pittsburgh where he lettered in 3 sports, baseball, basketball and golf. Friends received Wednesday 2-8pm at T.B. DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 806 Perry Hwy. North Hills. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Teresa of Avila Church Thursday 10am.

My mother, Betty, is heart sick to hear of Ed’s passing. Ed was named for her father, Edward Joseph Riffle. They were very close as children and Ed spent his leaves with them here in California during WWII. Mother is 94 and sends her condolances.

May this time be such a celebration of his life that you will be able to remember it fondly and with gratitude. And as he has been and is loved, so are you. ..
Sympathies to all of the children, my cousins, and to their children on the death of their Father and Grandfather. I was named Edward after my Uncle Ed at the moment when he was serving overseas and everyone was worried that he might not be coming back. A long and beautiful life, and I remember him warmly.
