My dear sweet Aunt Durell…I’ll always remember her for being so lovely, soft spoken and always her smile. I didn’t get to see her much in the last 30 yrs due to my relocation to Florida & caring for family but her and Uncle Rich along w Shelly stopped and visited with me, my husband, Mom & Dad. I am sending love to the family and hoping that my parents are there to greet you along with Uncle Rich. A party was never complete until Aunt Durell & Uncle Rich showed up. (Oddly last week I was looking thru old photos of mom & dad and found all those old photos of aunt Patty, Uncle Bill, Uncle Rich and Aunt Durell along with mom and dad at Brent’s wedding. What a wonderful reunion that was! I imagine a similar one at the heavenly gates)

Aunt Durelle has been in my life all my life. Her and uncle Rich. She taught me how to forgive and why I should forgive. Her and my uncle always saw the good in me an fostered it. Taking me on boy scout outings, always including me when they could. No judgments. My parents and the Klavons were life long friends 🧡. I miss you both. Always in my heart
    Love kev

Aunt Durelle will surely be missed. I have movie film of Aunt Durelle and uncle Rich from before they were married. They would go with my mother Marie and come to my grandfathers place in Somerset Pa. They go to a creek called the mud hole where everyone went swimming. I can remember Durelle and Rich and aunt Patty and uncle Bill coming to Fl went Brent got married and they visited my sister in Sarasota Fl for a couple of days. We had a silly string battle. So many great memories. Aunt Durelle was such a sweet person. I am truely sorry I haven’t made it in to Pittsburgh to visit with her. I cannot make viewing do to medical conditions and I know aunt Durelle would understand. Rest in peace aunt Durelle along with uncle Rich. I know he will be helping you find your way. You will be greatly missed. May our good Lord and Savior watch over you and protect you until we all meet again. Hope you can say hello to my mom and dad as well
    Rest in peace

Grandma Durelle will be so missed. I know she is smiling down from heaven right now seeing her family come together for her and celebrate her amazing life. What a beautiful woman with a kind heart. I will always remember how thoughtful she was, sending me a birthday card every year, even though I was her step granddaughter and we had never met. I am sending so much love to the Klavon family and to Grandma Durelle up in heaven. She will be so very missed and I know she will live on forever in our hearts and memories. ❤️

As I sat this morning contemplating +55 years of Mrs. Klavon memories, I felt compelled to pen this note not only on my own behalf but on behalf of countless Cranberry (Fernway) Cub Scouts who were privileged to have Mrs. Klavon as their Den Mother.

As our Den Mother Mrs. Klavon certainly provided many hours of activities, crafts and Cub Scout challenges however her most important gift was the subtle reinforcement of values that would help us become solid citizens…. Faith, Family, Country, Friends and Teamwork. We were also reminded that respect would take you a long way in life- “Mr. and Mrs.” – Please, Thank You, You’re Welcome – Hold a door – Don’t be stupid (we didn’t always excel at that one, sorry Mrs. Klavon).

In the end, Mrs. Klavon did not do any of this for accolades, awards or even this note of appreciation 55 years later but rather because she understood the value of community and she along with lots of our Cranberry mothers was way out in front of the “it takes a village to raise a child” concept.

Mrs. Klavon loved us, guided us, and protected us and for that I will always be grateful.

    Rest in peace Mrs. Klavon.
    Your Cub Scout forever.

    George Fedeanis
