Peacefully and surrounded in love on January 24, 2022, Dolores Eileen Hood (née Hogan), age 88, went to be with our Lord and Savior and most likely greeted Him with her endearing “Hi there!”. Born November 26, 1933 to William and Florence Hogan, Dee was a graduate of Connellsville High School and Duff’s Business School. She started her career with Gulf Oil and, through a friend she met there, went on a blind date that changed her life. She was married to Edward “Ed” Hood for nearly 66 incredible years. Dee spent many years as the Front Desk Receptionist and Admission Coordinator at Regency Hall Nursing Home in McCandless. She was an avid supporter of anything North Allegheny and attended NA’s “Senior Prom” for many years. She loved to dance, but cards were her passion – she played cards any chance she got with neighbors, longtime friends, her “over 50s” group, and family members. Dee was a member of Memorial Park Church for 58 years and sat with her family in the last pew each Sunday. She was a kind and caring woman who always watched and waved to you as you drove away from her home, a home she filled with countless memories and endless love. In addition to her husband, Ed, Dee is survived by their four children: Lisa (Ron) Knapp of Gibsonia, Gary (Sharon) Hood of Spring Branch, Texas, David (Christina) Hood of Franklin Park, and Scott (Karen) Hood of Wexford. She is also adored and survived by her 13 beautiful grandchildren, Robert Talarico, Stephen Hood, Christina (Garrett) Jockel, Zachary Hood, Katy Hood, Natalie Hood, Kathryn (Cameron) Lawson, Riley Hood, Joseph Knapp, Jessica Hood, Makenzie Hood, Victoria Hood, and Matthew Hood, and one great grandson, Joey Jockel. One of 10 children, Dee is reunited with her parents and late sister and brothers and survived by her brothers James (Barb) Hogan of Connellsville, PA and David (Debbie) Hogan of Georgia, her sister Anna Rowe of San Francisco, and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration-of-life ceremony will be held at Memorial Park Church (8800 Peebles Road, Allison Park, PA 15101) on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital (stjude.org).
