Dolores A. Pferdehirt
Age 90, of McCandless Twp., passed away peacefully at home on Friday November 15, 2024 surrounded by her family. Born June 11, 1934, daughter of the late Nicholas and Elizabeth Staresenic. Beloved wife of the late Donald G. Pferdehirt, whom she married on August 22, 1959; loving mother of Donald (Selda), Donna (Michael) Polito, Douglas (Jeanine), Deann (James) Kasper, and David (Dee); dear grandma of Melisa (Joseph), Rachel (Matthew), Eve (Ray), Sarah (David), Lara, Nicholas, Gillian, Juliette, Nicholas, Hannah, and Allison; great-grandma of Nathan, Damien, Adelaide, and the two on the way.
Survived by her sister Eleanor Bowers and many nieces and nephews.
She cherished her 52 years with her husband. Together they shared many memories vacationing with their children and grandchildren. Time together was most special.
Her legacy is her close-knit family. She was active in all school activities, especially working in the school library helping children with reading. She babysat grandchildren for the day, overnight, the week, and even for entire summers. Sleepovers at grandma’s house were always a big treat.
She never missed a sporting event for her children or grandchildren, always loudly rooting them on and hitting the snack bar after! Holidays and birthdays were an event with her. The bigger the better and everyone always felt special and most loved.
She had a deep-rooted faith and encouraged her grandchildren to love Jesus.
Family and friends are welcome on Friday from 2-4, 6-8 pm at Devlin Funeral Home, 806 Perry Hwy., North Hills. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, St. Sebastian Church. (Everyone please meet at the Church)
Dolores explicitly requested monetary donations to The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth at nazareth.org\donate. No flowers or trees please.

Sweet Miss Dolly… she will be truly missed… such a pleasure to work with her.. ALWAYS put others before her, ALWAYS worried about everyone, such a heart of gold .. I know Shes looking down on everyone… Fly high beautiful Angel… will miss you forever
Dolly was always a special person, she loved helping everyone and always did it with a smile. I had the pleasure of being a neighbor of her daughter Donna and when she visited her grandchildren we always got to chat and she would include my own kids along with her grandkids and made them feel like one of her own. May she rest in peace knowing she’s now with her forever love Don.
Aunt Doll was a wonderful loving and joyful woman, from whom I have a multitude of great memories and for whom I have much love! She was inspirational in her faith, and as her obituary said made everyone feel comfortable in her house and special. The Lord reward her greatly.
