Dennis Frese Vest, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on June 23, 1940, in Rochester, PA, Dennis lived a life full of love, dedication, and service. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Dennis was the devoted husband of April Vest, whom he married on November 25, 1989. Together, they forged a beautiful life filled with shared adventures and unwavering support. He was a loving father to Melanie Ann (Thomas), and a cherished stepfather to Cheryl (Frank) Freda. As a proud grandfather, he took great joy in his role, delighting in the lives of his grandchildren: Elizabeth (Patrick), Katherine (Smith), Matthew, Rachel, and Jacob. He was also a proud great-grandfather to James Clifford, who brought him immense joy.
Dennis was best known in the Pittsburgh area for working for the Pittsburgh Symphony, Carlow University and the Chautauqua Institute as a successful fundraiser.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Christ Church at Grove Farm, honoring Dennis’s spirit of giving.
Visitation will be held on Monday, from 3-7 PM at the Devlin Funeral Home of Cranberry Township. A Celebration of Life service will take place on Tuesday, at 2 pm at Christ Church at Grove Farm.

Today, I would of touched my uncle’s hand as I thanked him for insight conversations, he pressed me to enjoy work or seek those things to give me peace. The conversations with me alone or at parties are memorable, notably books of self-esteem and business. Casually, it was fun watching baseball or football and listening to his interest in fishing too I wish peace for my aunt and Cousins. Thank you for the extended family interaction with Dennis’s parents and his relatives. Love, Jim.
Dennis is one of the finest men we’ve ever known and the love you two shared was truly special. His love and his spirit will be with you always. We are so sorry we have company and cannot come to Pittsburgh for his funeral.
I always enjoyed spending time with Dennis and recall our conversations warmly. Thinking of you, April, and wishing you peace, comfort, and strength in the days ahead.
