Age 57 of West View on Thursday Jan. 24, 2013 due to the sudden onset of a debilitating illness. Beloved husband of Nancy (Pfister) Emerick, dedicated and loving father of Shannon L. Emerick. Brother in law of Jack and Connie Miller. Also survived by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel C. Sr. and Eleanor (Davis) Emerick. Dan was a teacher at the Western Pa. School for the Deaf for 34 years and was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. Family will receive friends Sunday 2-7 PM at T.B. Devlin Funeral Home, 806 Perry Hwy. North Hills. Mass of Christian Burial in Assumption Church, Bellevue, Monday at 10:00 AM. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Western Pa. Dan was a fb friend and I so enjoyed his comments and photos. We’d swap differences about our cultures and he always came across as a lovely, gentle and caring man. I am so going to miss his contributions. My heartfelt condolences go out to Nancy and Sharon, his wider family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues. Rest in Peace Dan and God bless you all now during this awfully sad time and in the future to come.

I am so sorry for your loss of Dan. It was such a shock when I got home from my church meeting this afternoon and Doug’s email was waiting. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I always enjoyed our “coffee talks” and lunches with the “Y” group with you and Dan and hope you will be able to again join us.

I am so sorry for your loss. I was very privileged to work with Dan for many years. There wasn’t a day that went by that he didn’t make me smile.
Dan was a dedicated & compassionate person. He touched the lives of many people and the world is a better place because Dan was in it.
