Cynthia Dian (Alexander) Heil of New Sewickley Township passed away on Sunday November 13, 2022. Born on June 10, 1943, in Pittsburgh PA, daughter of the late Francis and Esther Alexander. Beloved wife of 56 years to Richard L Heil. Loving mother of Kurt M. Heil M.D. (Jane Hughes M.D.), Kristine K. McCraw, and Kenneth R Heil (Sarah); beloved sister of Jay Daryl Alexander and the late Jonathan Dale Alexander and Francis David Alexander. Also survived by seven grandchildren.Dian was a devoted teacher of special education. She was a pioneer as a coach of blind athletes in the sport of goalball. Her green thumb kept her home full of beautiful flowers. She never kept still playing golf, pickleball and riding her bike.
Friends received Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Devlin Funeral Home of Cranberry 2678 Rochester Rd 724-772-8800. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, Sts. Our family is obviously one of many families that have been touched by Dian. During the short time we met her, we have been touched by her loving gestures. Our family is praying for your family. May our Lord give you all peace during this time.

As fellow former educators ourselves , we so appreciate and admire Dian for her dedication to the students she served for so many years . Her legacy lives on and hopefully will inspire others to continue in that service she so loved .

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Dian’s passing. She was our neighbor in Country Village, Bradenton FL, and will be greatly missed. Always friendly and a lot of fun. Condolences to Rich and the family.
She was quit a sister putting up for nine years with me and her other brothers Dale and David.
Dian was all around amazing. I was proud to work with her at the Intermediate Unit. She was always positive, pleasant, smart, skilled and an incredible advocate for children and families. She made a difference. My sincere sympathies.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Dian. We were neighbors and very close friends with Rich and Dian when our kids were growing up. So many good memories.
We are so sorry to hear the sad news. Dian has been in our thoughts lately since we haven’t gotten together as we used to do. We send our love & will pray for her as she strolls through heaven. To Rich & family, you are in our thoughts since we cannot be there.

As I close my eyes I can hear these words: DONT GIVE UP!! DON’T EVER GIVE UP!!! And they were spoken by one tenaciously lady…LADY DIAN HEIL!!! If there was a billboard on the subject, Dian would be the poster girl. She asked for so little and gave so much to others. Dian impacted people and made a difference in her job and with her friends. We loved Dian!! We, and the rest of the world is going to miss LADY DIAN HEIL!!!.

I’m so sorry! I loved her! She was like a second mom to me and treated me like one of her kids.
She made the world a brighter place!
I am deeply saddened by her passing. Our world is now much darker without her presence in it. Besides a dear friend, she was a gifted and wonderful Itinerant Vision Support Teacher and Orientation and Mobility Specialist who cared deeply for all her students. I was blessed to have taught along side her. May she rest in peace and rise in glory and may light perpetual shine upon her. May her husband and family find comfort and strength during this difficult time. Your retired colleagues miss you! ❤️🙏😢
