Lovingly referred to as “Chuck” by most everyone including his grandchildren, Benjamin, Barbara (Alex), Charlie, Zachery, Joshua, Lindsey (Andrew), Maxwell, and Nathan, and great grandchildren Jackson, Owen and Wesley. Chuck was born on January 13, 1936, son to the late Martha Dinges Winek and Edwin Winek and raised In Erie Pennsylvania where he graduated from Erie Cathedral Prep in 1953. He was preceded in death by his brother Donald Winek, and sisters Margaret (Winek) Camp and Barbara (Winek) Bruno. He earned a B.S. degree in Pharmacy from Duquesne in 1957, a M.S. degree from Duquesne in 1959, and his PhD from Ohio State University in 1962. His first job was with Proctor and Gamble in Cincinnati, Ohio as a toxicologist. He moved to the Pittsburgh area where he become the Director of Laboratories for Allegheny County, while also teaching at Duquesne University as a professor in the Pharmacy School. He received numerous awards but was most proud to be recognized by the Duquesne University Century Club as a Distinguished Alumni. He also opened a private laboratory, P.C. Lab, in Pittsburgh which he operated for over 40 years. Chuck was proud of the many students he taught who went on to successful careers and lives. Chuck had no personal hobbies. Instead, he worked hard and spent his spare time with his family. He enjoyed morning barefoot walks in the snow with his children, raking leaves, and hosing things down. He cleaned obsessively. He enjoyed riding his mower and loved smoking his pipe (quite often in hiding). He was a character that will be missed by those who had the opportunity to know him. He was a force in my life. Responsible for me attending pharmacy school at Duquesne. When I graduated. He came down the stairs at his home, in his robes and giving the dominus vobiscom blessing. Allways the entertainer. He encoraged me to get my PhD at Indiana where I met my husband of 50 yrs. I owe him so much. Although we didnt see him often in our later years he will be missed. LOVE Honey
